The upcoming Honda City 2020 will have a sleeker and more premium design with inputs from Honda’s global models like new Accord and Insight. The spy images also confirm that the new City gets stylish design heavily inspired from new-gen Honda sedans. Moreover, the cabin will receive majority of the changes in the form of advanced touchscreen infotainment system and upmarket quality materials. It is expected to be based on the thoroughly upgraded version of the existing plant. What’s interesting is that Honda is also readying a petrol-hybrid version of the City. The diesel version will be powered by the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine. Both models will be offered with automatic transmission options.

The next-generation City sedan will be equipped with BSVI compliant engines, which are likely to be enhanced version of the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel units. If reports are to be believed, the company has already started testing the BSVI compliant diesel engine. Japanese automaker has also started working on the petrol-hybrid version of the sedan. It will be a mild-hybrid alternative and won’t be as costlier as the fully-fledged hybrid technology, which is available in the City sold abroad. The decision on mild-hybrid tech for Honda City 2020 is yet to be finalised and will depend on the government’s auto policy on future mobility. The company is also considering offering a CVT option in the diesel-powered model.
